Annie Jin Wang is a first-generation Chinese-American dramaturg, writer, and visual artist. From new play development to revitalizing classic texts for today’s audiences, Annie’s body of work primarily investigates constructs of race, gender, and citizenship through a compassionate and critical lens. Currently based in New York, she also calls San Francisco, Chicago, and Beijing home. As a graphic designer and photographer, she seeks to create joyful and cinematic images.
Current topics of artistic and scholarly inquiry include Asian American history, technological and cultural convergence, and the creation of a radical dramaturgy of care.
Annie is a member of Fresh Ground Pepper’s PlayGround PlayGroup, with whom she is developing her second full-length play. She is also a proud company member of Ferocious Lotus Theatre Company, an alumna of the Wellesley College Shakespeare Society, a script reader for The Play Company, and a staff writer at The Female Gaze. She is currently an MFA Candidate in Dramaturgy at Columbia University School of the Arts, and received her BA from Wellesley College. On her fair and few free days, she seeks green spaces and the best pork buns in the five boroughs.
